Who can participate in this competition?
All staff of NIE, current students of NIE and alumni of NIE
What is the maximum group size for participation?
You can participate as an individual or in a group with no more than 5 members altogether
What can I use to create my design?
You can use any technology or materials to develop your design model, whether digital or physical.
Can I submit more than one entry?
No, participants are limited to submitting only one entry for the competition. To ensure fairness and equal opportunities for all participants, multiple submissions from the same individual or team will be considered a disqualification" / render the contestant disqualified. We encourage participants to focus on creating their best and most innovative design proposal to showcase their talents and ideas effectively.
Can I edit my submission once submitted?
No, once a submission is made, editing or making changes to the entry is not allowed. To ensure a fair and transparent evaluation process, all submissions are considered final upon submission. We recommend thoroughly reviewing and double-checking your design proposal before submitting to ensure it aligns with the vision and meets all the competition guidelines. Thank you for your understanding and commitment to presenting your best work in the initial submission.
How do I submit my prototype?
For Physical prototype, you may wish to drop it off at our NIE Library Info Desk during Library operating hours (Monday - Friday) 9am - 5pm excluding Public Holidays.
For digital prototype, please submit your artwork via the Registration form. Click on the upload button and a new window will open. Kindly upload your files via our OneDrive app and do remember to include your First Name and Last Name that you have written on your Registration form.
I wish to use the VR system to create a 3D prototype, how do I do so?
If you want to use the VR headset, please approach the Library from 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. Please send an email to Sandie.loo@nie.edu.sg to book the appointment at least 1 day before.
How will I be notified if I’m being selected?
Winners will be notified via the contact information provided in the registration.
Will participants retain ownership of the submitted designs?
Yes, participants will retain full ownership of their submitted designs.
Will the winning designs be implemented or showcased in any way?
Shortlisted designs will be showcased in a public exhibition, allowing the entire university community to appreciate and vote on the proposals.

Are there any restrictions on the use of materials or technology in the design?
While we encourage participants to explore innovative materials and technology in their designs, there are certain restrictions to ensure practicality and safety. Designs should prioritize the use of environmentally friendly and sustainable materials whenever possible. Additionally, any technology integration should complement the overall learning experience and be feasible within the scope of the design. Participants should avoid using materials or technology that pose potential hazards or excessively strain the budget. We encourage creativity within these guidelines to create inspiring and feasible learning spaces.
Can we form team from various departments?
Yes, you can absolutely form teams from various disciplines! We encourage interdisciplinary collaboration as it fosters diverse perspectives and innovative approaches to design learning spaces. Combining expertise from various group can lead to well-rounded and comprehensive proposal, enriching the overall competition experience.
Are there any copyright considerations for the designs?
By submitting your designs, participants grant the competition organizers the right to display and promote the designs for non-commercial purposes, while maintaining ownership of the designs.

How can I vote for my favourite project?
You can cast your vote both in person and online. Visit the Finalist page to vote online, or head to the NIE Library on Level 3 to see the innovative designs in person and cast your vote there.
When and where is the Finale event?
The Finale event will take place on August 8th. For more details about the location and schedule, please click here.
Who are the participants presenting their projects?
The participants are the shortlisted finalists of the Learning Oasis competition, showcasing their innovative projects.
How will the winner be chosen?
The winner will be selected based on the judges' evaluations and audience votes. The announcement will be made at the end of the event.
